Plastics and rubber are two of the most versatile and widely-used materials in the world. They are vital to the development of a variety of industries, from manufacturing of lightweight cars to green packaging to energy-saving construction. The 24th International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries, also known as "CHINAPLAS 2010", will bring together global industry elites under one roof on April 19-22, 2010 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Pudong, Shanghai, P.R. China. The trade fair will not only showcase a top-notch sourcing platform for plastics and rubber machineries and raw materials but also introduce the latest and most innovative applications of plastics and rubber technologies to various industrial sectors.
More than 100 participants from the media, plastics and rubber industries, and end-user industries attended the trade fair's press conference this afternoon (Nov 12), demonstrating their concerns on the progress of this mega show. Mr. Stanley Chu, Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd. and the organizer of CHINAPLAS, claimed that global industries are showing signs of recovery from the worldwide financial crisis. Whether big or small, companies are ready to discover solutions to enhance their product features and sharpen their competitiveness. Plastics and rubber raw materials and machine suppliers are optimistic about the market and are eager to participate in CHINAPLAS 2010. Booths have been overbooked by 30 percent, and six more exhibition halls will thus be constructed. The exhibition area is expected to cover 150,000 square meters, surpassing the past 23 editions. Over the years, CHINAPLAS has introduced new materials and technologies to various industries to create high-quality products. Plastics and rubber technologies are applied extensively such as in internal and external accessories for vehicles, TVs, computers, mobile phones, toys, doors and windows, food wrappers, bottles, and medical products. CHINAPLAS 2010 gains extensive support from local user associations of automotive, household appliances, lighting, bicycles, building materials, electrical appliances, wires and cables, tools, packaging, medical equipments, toys, electronics, and food and beverage, among others. These associations join the organizer in inviting trade buyers to attend CHINAPLAS 2010 where they will learn more about the latest in chemicals, raw materials, and high-end technologies. The organizer will provide key buyers with free shuttle bus service, accommodation subsidies, factory visits, on-site business matching services, and more privileges. Trade associations are optimistic about the development of the plastics industry and its application. According to Madam Liu Jingfen, Vice President and Secretary General of the Shanghai Plastics Industry Association and Vice President of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, the co-organizer of CHINAPLAS, China's plastics industry is developing rapidly. China is currently the world's leading producer of plastics machines, and it ranks second in manufacturing of plastic synthetic resin and plastics products. The rapid growth of the said industry in China together with the launching of the rejuvenation plan for light industries, including "home appliances to countryside," subsidy campaign, and "rural urbanization," will stimulate the consumption of household appliances, plastic pipes, and building materials. Mr. Mi Guodong, Secretary General of the Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Manufacturers Trade Association, believes that the development of China's plastics industry will in turn support the rapid and sustainable development of the electrical industry. He stressed that new types of engineering plastic materials are crucial to the upgrading of electrical appliance products, industrial technological innovations, and independent innovations. CHINAPLAS 2010 establishes closer linkage between the plastics and rubber industries and the electrical appliance industry, and promotes the wide application of engineering plastics in the electrical industry. Plastics are also vital to the new trends in the global automotive technology development, such as energy savings and environmental protection and safety. Mr. Qian Zukan, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Automotive Trade Association, emphasized the powerful potential of the utilization of plastics and rubber materials in the automotive industry. Hence, CHINAPLAS 2010 provides the automotive industry a rare opportunity to understand the development and strength of the plastics and rubber industries better, and to strengthen the networks of players in the industrial chain. To address the increasing global concern in environmental protection, CHINAPLAS 2010 will stage concurrent events with the theme "Green Plastics‧Our Goal‧Our Future", highlighting the industries' new development directions. Various activities, such as exhibition and forums, among others, will be organized to recognize the outstanding contributions of plastics and rubber enterprises to green building efforts and sustainable industrial development. Free admission and other privileges await visitors who will pre-register at www.ChinaplasOnline.com (admission fee of RMB 20 is waved). Over hundred of representatives from media, associations and buyers attended CHINAPLAS 2010 press conference held in Shanghai. The guests hosted the ceremony to unveil the new theme of the show,"The Growth Engine for Your Industries" to highlight that plastics and rubber technologies are applied extensively in different industries.
