A South West-based marine plastics manufacturer is aiming to be 70% operational again inside a month following a fire which caused extensive smoke damage.
The Manuplas plant in Plymouth, which employs 44 staff, specialises in moulded products including buoys for the marine and subsea sectors. It suffered extensive smoke damage from the fire (22 January).
Director Clair Mollet told PRW: "The problem is largely smoke damage. The staff and fire crews have been wonderful in getting everything cleared up.
"We already have some capacity going off site and while it is impossible at the moment to give exact dates we are aiming for 70 of production within three to four weeks."
Mollet added that the company had been praised by the fire service for the level of its fire precaution measures, which prevented the blaze spreading.
An initial investigation has shown that the fire was caused by a faulty thermostat
